Title: ButterFlyCam Category: Modern demo Group: Just me! (John Choi) Individual credits: I modeled, textured and animated the 3D butterfly using Maya and GIMP. I then imported the object into Unity, and used webcam functions to render the background and applied the Android gyroscope to control the pitch and roll (rotation) of the butterfly. Target platform: Android 2.1 or greater Technique: This is an experimental augmented reality app for Android devices. It uses the rear camera to render a real-life background and composites that to a gyroscope controlled butterfly. It was built mainly using Unity. Development platform: Windows 7 Unique properties: Simple interface, yet surprisingly fun to play with. Uses the gyroscope and webcam simultaneously to render a moving butterfly. Also has real-time light detection, so that the light in the environment actually lights the butterfly dynamically.
